Client Aspirations
Our Client requested a bespoke design of a compact, sustainable dwelling using natural local materials. This replacement dwelling would also capture the views over the countryside.
Challenges
Rural setting with mature trees; Narrow site; Replacement dwelling; Outline planning approval challenging
Our Response
Our design concept included a 2 bed bespoke dwelling on the outskirts of Claudy, County Derry. The house has been clad in a stone façade made with local sustainable and natural stone to blend in with the surroundings. One of most striking elements of the home is the inclusion of the red corrugated roof which references local agricultural buildings close to the site. The single storey house is one room deep to allow the enjoyment of views over the rolling countryside hills from all rooms within the house. There is an abundance of natural light throughout the home which has an open plan living / kitchen / dining, lounge, 2 bedroom, bathroom and attached garage.
